Why Chinese PowerCons Might Not Be What You Need

In the process of doing our research before starting PowerConCables.com, we looked a products from a lot of different manufacturers, mostly imports.

One of the strangest things we examined was a PowerCon coupler that had the same connector on both ends.  Each end was equipped with a knockoff verison of a NAC3MPA-1 chassis mount connector (blue), which means it would only accept a NAC3FCA (blue) equipped cable.

We’re not sure what is supposed to be happening here, but an extended cable with a grey output cable on both ends is not going to be of much use to anybody.

Breaking Capacity-What Does It Mean?

Neutrik PowerCon cables are designed to only be mated when the device to be powered is turned off.  This is because this connector series does not have breaking capacity.

Breaking capacity is a design features that manages the mating of individual conductors in such a way that the device to which you are connecting can be in the “on” or “powered up” state and still plugged in safely.
